Flexcar is a car sharing company, the oldest and second largest in the United States. It’s first company in the United States to become completely carbon neutral. Created for people whose car would normally be away from their home about 15 hours a week, and do not need a car for their daily commute to work, Flexcar allows members to choose an economical rate plan and pay an annual fee to cover gasoline, insurance, maintenance, and cleaning. Members reserve a car online or by telephone and use a key card to access the vehicle, typically parked in a highly-populated neighborhood. In several of its cities, the company has even formed a public-private partnership with a local public transit entity.
