We were at a green business networking event not too long ago and an older woman commented on how she liked the graphic tee that we were wearing. We explained that it was from T-post, a Swedish T-shirt of the Month Club that makes news you can wear. Hardly impressed, she asked if it was organic. When we told her it wasn’t, we might as well have been wearing a suit made of asbestos. Now, granted, there are lots of companies out there that could be much more constructive, but just because it’s not 100% good, doesn’t mean it’s 100% bad. The same goes for the those people who support them. By pointing out what ideas are working on both sides of the ecology and pop culture spectrum, and encouraging new ideas, we can change the way we make and buy things for the better. Sure, T-post could and should explore printing alternatives as well as other responsible business practices, but using fashion to educate people and create discussion around important world events is crazy fantastic. Take that idea, add the best of American Apparel, Threadless, howies, and any number of other innovative companies listed on this site and you have yourself a super brand and an even more super wardrobe.
Go on, create a monster. What business innovations would you combine to make the perfect product, brand or business?
