GOOD magazine is exactly the kind of magazine it says it is, good. But there are a few others out there "for those who give a damn" that you could call great.

For us, three titles come to mind: Plazm, re:, and Look-Look.

Created as a creative resource by award-winning Portland design firm Plazm , the annual Plazm magazine publishes challenging and innovative art, design, cultural, and literary works and is distributed worldwide. Guest contributors have included David Byrne, David Carson, Coco Fusco, John C Jay, Guillermo Gomez Peņa, Martha Rosler, Rick Valicenti, Why Not Associates, and many others. And, if you're still not convinced of it's brilliance, the entire catalog is also part of the permanent collection at SFMoMA.

re: is a magazine created by re:Active, a nonprofit, arts-education program for troubled youths aged 13 to 19. With themes like re:action, re:birth, and re:vealed, re: is about important issues affecting youth, by youth, as a vehicle for them to express their creativity and learn about careers in the fields of design, writing, illustration and photography.

Look-Look magazine is a bi-annual magazine also created by young people for young people. While this particular magazine might not address social issues like the other two magazines do, and could come across more like youth marketing research, the content is completely uncensored and often a compelling insight into the future of our world--for better or worse.

Here's to making more GOOD magazines even better.

If you have any ideas for magazines for those who give a damn, including ones that could make these even better, let the world know below. Hey, that rhymes.
