Effective March 15, 2008
The ecopop website which is located at the domain www.ecopop.com (the "ecopop Website") is operated and controlled by ecopop ("ecopop") in the United States. ecopop takes your privacy very seriously. This Privacy Policy describes how we treat the information we collect when you visit the ecopop Website and/or register yourself.
It is your responsibility to review this Privacy Policy carefully, especially before providing any personal data through the ecopop Website. If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy or the ecopop Website, or if you wish to unsubscribe from the ecopop Website services for which you have previously registered, please contact us at info@ecopop.com or at the address at the end of this Privacy Policy.
PLEASE REVIEW THIS PRIVACY POLICY AND THE TERMS OF USE FOR THE ECOPOP WEBSITE CAREFULLY. YOUR USE OF THE ECOPOP WEBSITE SIGNIFIES YOUR AGREEMENT TO SUCH PRIVACY POLICY AND THE TERMS OF USE.
1. Types of Information We Collect:
We collect the information you submit to the ecopop Website during your use or when you register on the ecopop Website. Examples include the following:
REGISTRATION: When you register to use the ecopop Website, we may collect various kinds of contact information about you including your name, zip code, email address and birth date. By registering with the ecopop Website, you give consent for us to communicate with you at any of the contact points you provide to us.
COMPANY DIRECTORY: Submissions and/or searching of the Company Directory requires visitors to register on the ecopop Website. This registration process includes submission of various types of data including, but not limited to, name, address, email address, age, zip code, marital status and household income.
SUBMISSIONS/MEMBER SERVICE: ecopop will occasionally post surveys, polls, sweepstakes and/or contests on the ecopop Website. These may ask visitors/site members for contact information (email and name) and/or other information such as zip code, age and/or income level. Contact information is never shared with our partners unless we are co-sponsoring a contest or sweepstakes or for notification purposes only. ecopop may send offers from our partners to those visitors/site members who have not opted out of receiving such offers. ecopop also uses contact information to send users information about our company and promotional material from some of our partners. Users may opt-out of receiving mailings by following the instructions found within the email communication. See also "Choice/Opt-Out below.
2. Use of Cookies:
Like many websites, the ecopop Website uses "cookies" or other similar technologies to collect aggregate and anonymous data. A cookie is a small data file that writes to your hard drive for record keeping purposes when you visit the ecopop Website. Cookies allow the ecopop Website to measure traffic activity on the ecopop Website. We also use cookies to improve the ecopop Website and/or tailor your experience on the ecopop Website, for example by remembering your password and allowing you to visit "member only" portions of the ecopop Website without re-registering. ecopop does not use cookies to retrieve information from a computer that is unrelated to our site or services. Most browsers are initially set to accept cookies. If you prefer, you can set your browser to refuse cookies or to alert you when cookies are being sent, but it is possible that some parts of the ecopop Website will not function properly if you do so.
3. Our Use of Your Data:
Personal Information
This is information directly associated with a specific person or entity such as a user's name, email address, financial information and/or information about activities directly linked to that person.
In an effort to provide you with the best site experience possible, ecopop encourages all visitors to register on the ecopop Website. Basic registration consists of providing your email address to us. We may also collect personal data in connection with other services offered by the ecopop Website such as when you participate in chat rooms, message boards, blogs or other user forums; respond to polls or surveys; purchase merchandise through the ecopop Website; or seek help from our customer service department. Because providing detailed information regarding this Privacy Policy when you register or provide information in connection with these other ecopop Website services is often impractical, you may instead be provided with a short notice that reminds you to refer to this Privacy Policy and other relevant information from ecopop. We may also obtain personal data from reputable third parties, such as credit agencies. Rest assured, however, ecopop does not collect any personal information that is not expressly provided to us by our visitors and/or members.
ecopop does not share, rent or sell its member's personal information including email address with any third parties for any purpose without a member's express permission.
Aggregate Information
Aggregate and anonymous data is information that is not personally identifiable, such as [annual income, purchasing preferences, age, marital status], also known as demographic and profile data. Submission of demographic and profile data on the ecopop Website is optional. Although this information may be collected and combined with other users/visitors/registered members use of the ecopop Website, none of your specific personal information is included in the resulting data. The ecopop Website also collects aggregate and anonymous data such as IP address, profile information, and Web browser type, from users/visitors/registered members to the ecopop Website. An IP address is a number that is automatically assigned to your computer whenever you are surfing the Web. We do not link IP addresses to any personal data, so although your session will be logged, you will remain anonymous to us and the ecopop Website. During some visits, we may use software tools, such as Javascript, to measure and collect session information, including page response times, download errors, time spent on certain pages, page interaction information, and methods used to browse away from the page. The ecopop Website also utilizes "web beacons" (aka Internet tags, pixel tags, single-pixel GIFs, clear GIFs, invisible GIFs, 1-by-1 GIFs, and web bugs). When placed on a web page, these graphic files send a signal when a user has visited that page, allowing the site to collect standard access information, such as time and date of a page view, and a description of the page on which the web beacon resides. These web beacons are used to track the effectiveness of online advertising as well as to gather website usage statistics. These web beacons do not link to any personal information.
We may also share information about you with others, such as advertisers interested in advertising with the ecopop Website, in aggregate, anonymous form only, which means that the information we provide to these third parties will not contain any personally identifiable information about you or any other person.
4. Disclosure of Personal Data:
Disclosure to Third Parties: ecopop, like many businesses, sometimes hires other companies to perform certain business-related functions on our behalf such as hosting specific portions of the ecopop Website, maintaining databases, administering contests, mailing information and processing payments. When we employ a third party to perform these functions, that third party will only be provided with the particular personal data it needs to perform its function, and is required to protect the personal data. With your consent only, we may also share personal data with pre-screened third parties for their marketing or promotional purposes. We will provide you with an opportunity to elect or decline these services or opportunities (see "Choice/Opt-Out" below).
Disclosure to Others: In addition, we may disclose personal data without providing you with a choice under the following limited circumstances to: (1) protect the legal rights, privacy or safety of ecopop or its or their employees, agents and contractors; (2) protect the safety and security of other visitors to the ecopop Website; (3) protect against fraud or other illegal activity or for risk management purposes; (4) respond to inquiries or requests from public authorities; (5) permit us to pursue available remedies or limit the damages that we may sustain; (6) enforce our Terms of Use; or (7) comply with the law or legal process.
If ecopop sells all or part of the ecopop Website or makes a sale or transfer of assets or is otherwise involved in a merger or business transfer, we may, in our sole discretion, transfer, sell or assign your personal data to a third party as part of or in connection with that transaction. Upon such transfer, the Privacy Policy of the acquiring entity may govern the further use of your personal data.
5. Third-Party Advertising and Links to Other Sites:
The ecopop Website may include third-party advertising. These third parties' websites and advertisers, or the Internet advertising companies that work on their behalf, may use technology to send the advertisements that appear on the ecopop Website directly to your browser. They automatically receive your IP address when this happens. They may also use cookies, Javascript, Pixel Tags and other technologies to deliver advertisements, collect information about the effectiveness of their advertisements, and to collect anonymous information about your visits to the ecopop Website, such as the number of times you have viewed an advertisement (but not your name, address, or other personal data). For instance, clicking on an advertisement or on links or other elements on the ecopop Website may take you to an entirely different website. Links to other sites may even use the ecopop Website logo or style as a result of a co-branding agreement. These websites may send their own cookies to you and may collect data and make use of that data in ways that ecopop and the ecopop Website would not. Once you have left the ecopop Website, this Privacy Policy will no longer apply to your personal data or any other data collected from or provided by you. You should check the applicable privacy policy to the websites you link to to determine how that website will handle such data.

You acknowledge that the ecopop Website does not pre-screen or approve User-Generated Content, but that ecopop shall have the right (but not the obligation) in its sole discretion to refuse, delete or move any User-Generated Content that is available via the ecopop Website for violating the letter or spirit of ecopop's Terms of Use or for any other reason or no reason.
