For those of you who might be unfamiliar with the yurt, it's basically a large, teepee-like shelter that has been used in Asia for centuries.
We had no idea they were being modernized and adapted for all kinds of uses in this country until we stumbled upon the eco-minded Treebones Resort, a unique lodging experience in Big Sur, California that invites you to experience camping in a tent with all the comforts of a cabin.
The yurt seems to be catching on, too. Our friends at ecoshack have recently designed their very own super stylish yurt now available to you for a variety of practical applications. Designed by ecoshack founder Stephanie Smith, the Nomad is a fully-enclosed, eco-luxurious, portable outdoor room that can easily be set up in your backyard as a personal sanctuary, as well a spa treatment room, rooftop and pool side lounge, event space, and virtually anything else you can think of.
We'd like to see music festivals, trade shows, pop-up stores, and movie sets get in on the action, too. That way, we can say they got the idea from us and we can hit ecoshack up for our very own shadow puppet theater space.
What would you use your yurt for?
